Think London 2018 – THINK You’re Ready?

Share this post:

How are emerging technologies changing the way we live, work and interact with one another every day? How can artificial intelligence bring the future even closer? How can we win the cybersecurity game? IBM’s signature UK event, Think London 2018, will provide you with answers to these questions by showcasing how we are helping clients from across all industries to put smart to work. Building on the successes of last year, the event will take place in the Truman Brewery and will be demonstrating some of the most cutting-edge and innovative technology IBM is involved in. This year, we want to celebrate where technology meets humanity; a relationship grounded in IBM principles and one we continue to evolve and nurture.

We’ve been overwhelmed with interest since we originally announced the event and registration is now closed, but whether you’re joining us on the day or not, you can keep up with the conversation by following #thinkLondon or subscribing to our Twitter feed.

The building will be split into four campuses: Security and Resiliency; Business and AI; Cloud and Data; and Modern Infrastructure. Each campus will house a series of interactive and engaging demos to illustrate the application of IBM technologies. Filling these spaces will be a range of activations to provide clients with a tangible representation of the technology we offer. Installations in these campuses span everything from a banking concierge in the business and AI campus to an Aston Martin Red Bull Racing play-seat in the Modern Infrastructure campus. All the activities highlight how IBM innovation transcends the boundary between humanity and technology to provide a world-class experience to clients and partners.

A new addition to our event for 2018 is the IBM Labyrinth; an escape the room scenario informing participants of the unique projects we are involved in. Individuals will be in teams of four and need to complete four sections that are simultaneously mentally and physically challenging for participants. Complete with sound effects, props and atmospheric lighting it encapsulates how technology and humanity can work together.

Additionally, there will be opportunities to engage with subject matter experts in the fishbowl debates that encourage clients to voice what is important to them. Sessions range from the impact of cloud to the implication of retail outgrowing the high street. These debates will be mediated by Mary Nightingale, an award-winning journalist who no doubt, will prompt the ruffling of a few feathers.

There will be a keynote theatre where IBM leaders will host client speakers from across all industries to share their stories of how they are partnering with IBM to put smart to work in their organisations.

Examples range from the sporting world where IBM and Wimbledon collaborated to create the first AI- generated Official Championships Poster celebrating the 150th anniversary of The All England Lawn Tennis Club, to the conservation of rhinos and how this encompasses the Internet of Things, Analytics and Cloud showcased in the Labyrinth, to the financial sector, and our work with RBS.  By highlighting how these case studies transcend a variety of sectors, it highlights how clients can work alongside IBM to put smart to work regardless of their industry.

The above theatre will kick off with Sir Chris Hoy, MBE delivering an inspirational key note speech, followed by Q&A to set the tone for the rest of the day. In addition, there will also be a silent theatre; an immersive experience where clients will be provided with headphones to listen to a Ted-style talk about a range of topics.

Think London 2018 is the perfect place to explore how IBM is working with clients and partners to provide innovative collaboration between technology and humanity. I look forward to seeing you on the 14th of November!
