Think Summit London 2019, IBM’s annual festival of innovation, took place on 16th October; welcoming business leaders, industry experts, innovators and technology enthusiasts to the iconic Olympia London. Attendees explored how IBM is channelling cutting edge research and technology into protecting the future, helping to sustain not just business growth but also people and environments around the world.
The exhilarating day featured a jam-packed agenda of inspiring tech talks, topical debates, immersive experiences and unique networking opportunities all under one roof. Bill Kelleher, Chief Executive UK and Ireland, opened the day discussing the next chapter of digital reinvention for businesses. This was followed by an insightful keynote by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, multi-award winning writer and broadcaster, who invited us to ask if technology could be doing more to solve urgent environmental issues, as we marked #WorldFoodDay.
For the first time Think London hosted four campus areas that allowed delegates to focus on the topics they cared about the most; Cloud and Infrastructure, Security and Resiliency, Data and AI and Shaping the Future. The event also showcased the world’s most advanced quantum computing initiative, Project Debater – the first AI system that can debate with humans on complex topics – and a dedicated track for enterprise developers to get expert advice on coding challenges.
Here’s how the day unfolded:

Streamlining Life Sciences Research: Simplifying Data Access with Design Principles
Life Sciences research and development is complicated: complex tasks are carried out in an environment of big data, specialised technology and regulated processes. The challenges of this complexity risks making processes and interactions iterative, slow and expensive. To accelerate innovation in the development of safe and effective treatments, Life Sciences organisations need to cut through these challenges […]
