IBM vrijwilligersprojecten vallen in de prijzen

IBM geeft voor haar verjaardag vrijwilligerswerk cadeau. Gedurende het gehele Centennial jaar worden IBMers aangespoord om acht uur van hun kennis en tijd te doneren aan de gemeenschap.
In Europa zijn tot nu toe al 341.119 uren vol kennis, betrokkenheid en enthousiasme weggegeven aan projecten in de gezondheidszorg, onderwijs, sport, cultuur en milieu.
Daarnaast stelt de IBM Corporation in 2011 ruim 1 miljoen dollar beschikbaar om projecten van IBM-vrijwilligers te financieren. Voor deze Centennial Grants komen initiatieven in aanmerking die IBM’s smarter planet strategie toepassen voor de gemeenschap. In Nederland zijn maar liefst vijf initiatieven beloond met een toelage van 10.000 dollar: Stichting Vrouwen Aan Het Werk (VAHW), Stichting Earth-Cleaner, Smarter Hospital/Lion Heart Foundation, Stichting IUCN en CAP100.
