IBM viert Centennial met vrijwilligerswerk

Een bijzonder onderdeel van de IBM Centennial-viering betreft de Celebration of Services. Wereldwijd worden 400.000 IBM’ers aangespoord om dit jaar acht uur van hun kennis en tijd te doneren aan de gemeenschap. Zij zetten zich individueel of in teamverband in voor een breed scala aan projecten op het terrein van gezondheidszorg, onderwijs, sport, cultuur en milieu. Op 15 juni werd de Celebration of Services gevierd met een dag waarop diverse projecten van start gingen, een hoogtepunt beleefden, of juist werden afgerond.
De medewerkers van IBM Nederland doneerden tot op heden 11.500 uur aan organisaties als CAP100, Plan Nederland, Stichting Semmy, Stichting Earth-Cleaner, Apenheul, Cordaan, Connect in the Park, De Weekenschool, Stichting CMTC, JINC en nog veel meer.
De inzet van zoveel enthousiaste vrijwilligers(teams) vertaalt zich niet alleen in indrukwekkende cijfers – Europa noteerde 317.000 vrijwilligersuren en wereldwijd werden maar liefst 1.695.000 uren (lees: 850 jaar dienstverlening) gedoneerd – maar vooral in resultaten, vooruitgang, nieuwe contacten en heel veel energie, enthousiasme en inspiratie.
