It’s time that realism prevails. Rather than being governed by fear, we should simply acknowledge that threats are part and parcel of the existence of organisations today. We need to ensure we are ready to deal with that inevitable breach. At the upcoming Think events you can learn what this means for you organisation’s security approach.
Let’s get one thing straight: security measures can not obstruct the business, because the business must go on as usual. IBM’s own CISO Shamla Naidoo also abides by this motto, as shared with the audience during a panel discussion at IBM’s recent Security Summit in the Netherlands.
Another aspect is the security team. In light of the current skills shortage it is important to to make existing security colleagues more effective. Artificial intelligence, incident response orchestration and open collaboration are all key here. At Think you will learn what can be achieved today with IBM solution such as Watson for Cybersecurity, Resilient, QRadar and Cb Response from our partner Carbon Black.
But no matter how well you train your staff and protect your IT environment, you cannot always avoid being hacked. At some point every organisation will face the ‘BOOM!’ Once this happens, it is crucial that everyone in the organisation knows how to respond, from the management to the telephone operator.
Do you have playbooks in place? And more importantly, do you test and rehearse these regularly?
At our cyber range in Boston hundreds of our customers have put their organisation to the test in realistic simulations. At Think we’ll share some of the breach readiness lessons we’ve learned this way.
Crucially, review your disaster recovery (DR) plans. Are you sure your DR plan is suited to handle a data breach? How quick do you stand up and dust yourself off after you have fallen? This is what true cyber resilience is all about. In the end, that is what determines the impact of an incident on your business operations and, ultimately, your reputation. At Think you can learn how IBM helps customers create DR plans for cyber crises.
Attend the upcoming Think events to get insights on how to become cyber resilient. Experience the latest technology in threat detection and prevention as well as incident response. IBM Think, October 4 at IBM Brussels. #ThinkBrussels
