IBM wins Smart Business Awards for analytics and business Intelligence

Last night, during the Smart Business Awards, IBM took home the Smart Business Award for Analytics and Business Intelligence. It is the second recognition for analytics IBM Belgium receives this year.

In the broad category of Big Data, Business Intelligence and Analytics, IBM proceeded nominees such as the SAS Institute, Qliq, HP, SAP and Microstrategy.  The award was given based on votes of a public jury and on the opinion of a jury of experts in the IT business in Belgium. These results were then supplemented by the relative position in the market and the sentiments of the suppliers towards the nominees.

According to Smart Business magazine Chief-editor William Visterin, IBM was recognized “for the good market position IBM holds in this field, while showing diverse initiatives, such as the Watson initiative.”  The jury concluded that IBM excels in the three domains comprised in this award: the managing of enormous amounts of data, gaining insights and analytics from them and using this business intelligence to aid other companies. Especially the innovative achievements of Watson were very important in the decision to reward IBM.

The Smart Business Award is the second analytics award for IBM Benelux, after winning the Data News Award earlier this year.   It proves the confidence Belgian business has in IBM as the Big Data and Analytics specialist.  And with Watson, IBM is considered the most innovative player in this market.
