Nova Scotia Taps into Tomorrow’s Potential

The Government of Nova Scotia continually works to support the future potential of our students and help create opportunities for young people to see a future for themselves in our province. We are pleased to announce a new option for students through a unique IBM-inspired program that will provide more opportunity in the information technology sector.
Based on IBM’s Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH), we are implementing a made-in-Nova Scotia approach to support our students and help address the future labour market needs of Nova Scotia’s growing technology sector.
Public school students participating in the six-year program will receive mentorship opportunities, internships and co-operative education placements, in addition to classroom learning. They will receive their high school diploma and a free two-year diploma from the local community college.
P-TECH, or the Technology Advantage Program as we’re calling it in Nova Scotia, will create pathways to success by connecting students’ education with a need in the technology sector.
Students will graduate with the skills and qualifications to enter good paying jobs in the technology sector or to continue their studies, helping build a strong Nova Scotia workforce that can pave the way for innovation right here at home.
