Standing on the Shoulders of Giants

Share this post:

The last five years has seen a surge in large companies collaborating with startups to improve success rates. It was once thought that startups and corporations speak different languages, run at different speeds, and serve different purposes in our economy. Gone is the thinking that the large tech company and the start-up are complete opposites; today the common held belief is we need you as much as you need us.

Established tech companies are partnering with this community because of the innovative solutions they design and build to resolve very specific client problems. For startups, these relationships offer access to new client opportunities, marketing dollars and seasoned advice. The Harvard Business Review describes this give-and take relationship as “startups excel at giving birth to successful proof of concepts; larger companies are much better at successfully scaling proof of concepts.”

It is the need for this type of synergy that led Neptune Software to enter a strategic partnership with IBM. The collaboration benefits both organizations with offerings that will modernize clients systems and processes, while accelerating them into the digital economy.

While this pairing could at first glance seem odd, the truth is both organizations share the same core values that always put the client first. This simple, shared mantra is at the foundation of how we will empower industries and businesses to achieve long-term value and improve business outcomes.

As a Norwegian start-up, we have focused our business operations on helping enterprises simplify, mobilize, and accelerate the SAP Fiori app experience. Fiori applications developed through Neptune Software are ready for deployment in a fraction of the time it normally takes to implement through the standard SAP tools and method. The Neptune Software solution enables established ABAP development teams to develop new age Fiori applications for SAP with close to no upskilling, avoiding the need for additional skills and resources, which in turn has a positive impact on return on investment and total cost of ownership.

IBM teams are beginning to implement the Neptune Software solution at various clients. These clients–ranging from medium to large size–are quickly discerning a new way to access and interact with SAP systems across desktop and mobile environments – even in offline scenarios.

In the words of Sir Isaac Newton, “If you can learn to stand on the shoulders of giants, you can get bigger, faster.” Working with an established technology company like IBM, allows our joint customers to benefit from an unmatched global reach and access to a vast pool of professionals for deployment, while at the same time benefiting from the agility, speed and reactivity of our own organization when it comes to adding new features to meet our client needs.

Making the workplace safe for employees living with HIV

The recent promising news about Covid-19 vaccines is in sharp contrast to the absence of a vaccine for HIV, despite decades of research. Unlike Covid-19 with a single viral isolate that shows minimal diversity, HIV circulates in a wide range of strains that so far have proven impervious to a single vaccine. Fortunately, more people […]

A New Wave: Transforming Our Understanding of Ocean Health

Humans have been plying the seas throughout history. But it wasn’t until the late 19th century that we began to truly study the ocean itself. An expedition in 1872 to 1876, by the Challenger, a converted Royal Navy gunship, traveled nearly 70,000 nautical miles and catalogued over 4,000 previously unknown species, building the foundations for modern […]
