Digital Transformation: Mac’s Continued Rise in the Enterprise

Everywhere you look today proves that mobile technology and mobile work environments are allowing employees to more easily conquer their daily workloads from a laptop, the palm of their hand, or even a screen on their wrist.

Finding yourself in the midst of a transforming work environment is enough to make anyone excited to go to work everyday, myself included.

Beyond flexible and open office spaces encouraging collaboration and sparking productivity, the speed and scale with which mobile technology is accelerating enterprise transformation is equally impressive.

The evolution of workplace mobility is changing how we work and what devices we use to get work done.

So in an ever-evolving market that moves at lightning speed, with new disruptive technology being introduced all the time, how can we continue to ensure we are doing all we can to improve the time and resources our employees need to work and succeed without interruption?

IT leaders must balance supporting on-the-go workers with maintaining corporate security. This is paving the way for a new IT life cycle – from ordering a device, to configuration, management, security and support – that demands new and innovative solutions.

It is time to adopt modern IT tools and governance across all industries to conduct business and get ahead. This has been accomplished through our own Mac@IBM program, which deploys Mac devices at scale in a secure setting (IBM is currently adding 250 new Mac devices per workday).

This program was born from the desire employees now have for choice in their devices, as well as the opportunity to have their enterprise experience reflect their consumer experience. As a result of the program’s ease of adoption and use, a host of new cloud-based IT services were introduced in August 2015 to help our clients and their customers quickly, easily and securely integrate Mac devices with their own systems and applications.

The Mac device user experience has fundamentally changed the way thousands of IBMers work on a daily basis, and I know the same can now be said for our clients and their customers. Today, we continue to evolve IBM Managed Mobility Services for Mac to ultimately allow clients and their customers to be more dynamic, transform enterprise IT, and innovate for future growth.

With analysts projecting that the global market for enterprise mobility will reach $50.7 billion by 2020, driven by globalization and workforce decentralization, it is clear that the shift in the nature of work and the digital workplace is not slowing down and will continue to evolve. Beneath it all though – the changing workplace landscape and enterprise adoption of reliable, efficient technology like Mac devices – are the IT services that keep applications, devices, and systems up and running, and give employees the opportunity to make a greater difference for their organizations.
