Xavier Vasques

In 2005, Xavier received a master's degree in applied mathematics from the University of Pierre et Marie Curie co-habilited Ecole Normale Supérieure and Ecole Polytechnique. In 2008, he received a master’s in engineering (computer science) from the Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers and his PhD in Neurosciences from the Montpellier Faculty of Medicine. During his PhD, he investigated the mechanism of deep brain stimulation in the treatment of movement disorders by applying mathematics such as AI models to better understand the brain. Xavier now leads the IBM Systems Center based in Montpellier, which consists of deep technical experts working at the cutting edge of current and next-generation technology such as cognitive systems, AI, IBM Z, storage, quantum computing, hybrid cloud, security and blockchain. Xavier is also a mathematician and head of the Clinical Neurosciences Research Laboratory based in Montpellier aiming to develop and use research in mathematics such as AI and neurosciences to better understand the brain. Xavier is also member of the IBM Academy of Technology.
