Axel is currently the chairman of the IBM think tank "TEC" in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, which is shaping the future of IBM overseas. Axel is also a renowned and awarded speaker, besides his daily job as a technology consultant. He has been a technical specialist in data processing ever since joining IBM in 2000. Axel holds a PhD from the Technical University Aachen and worked for Fraunhofer Research and for CERN in Geneva before joining IBM.
